Three formats, your vocabulary
A journalist Notae account only sees these three formats — never the formats or vocabulary reserved for another profession, and vice versa.
- Timestamped transcript — Word-for-word transcript with time markers, hesitations included, with "[inaudible]" for anything unclear.
- Quote sheet — Quote (reproduced word for word, in quotation marks), source of the quote (only if their identity was given for publication, otherwise "anonymous source"), and context of the statement (factual).
- Article outline — Angle considered (as it emerges from the interview), factual elements gathered (only what was said), quotes to keep (faithful), and points to verify or complete elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions
Can Notae invent or distort a quote?
No, never. A quote appears only if it was said word for word, never attributed to someone who didn't say it; passages that aren't clear are marked "[inaudible]", never guessed.
Does a journalist account see formats meant for other professions?
No. Every Notae account has a profession chosen at signup. A journalist account only sees the formats and vocabulary specific to their profession; it has no access to any format or text reserved for another profession (for example a insurance claims adjuster), and vice versa.
Is source confidentiality respected?
Yes. Any request for anonymity made during the interview is flagged in the document, and an interviewee's identity appears only if it was given for publication.
